Islamabad: The Supreme Court has sought a report from the Finance Ministry on the issue of providing funds for elections in Punjab.

According to the sources, the Supreme Court has also sought a report from the Finance Ministry on the issue of Rs 21 billion for the elections in Punjab.

A notice has been sent to the Ministry of Finance by the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office. The special messenger of the court has sent the notice to the finance ministry. According to sources, the report of the Ministry of Finance on the court notice has not yet reached the Registrar’s Office Supreme Court, on which a notice has been sent by the court.

Earlier, a report on the provision of funds was submitted to the Supreme Court by the Election Commission.

According to the sources, the report on the release of funds for the elections was submitted by the Election Commission to the Supreme Court last night. The two-page progress report of the Election Commission mentions the non-provision of funds.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Secretary Election Commission for a report on the funds, in which it was directed to inform about the receipt or non-receipt of funds regarding the elections of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

On the judicial notice, the Supreme Court was informed by the Election Commission that funds could not be found for the elections.
