Turkey's first nuclear power plant has been inaugurated

Turkey inaugurated the country’s first nuclear power plant built with the cooperation of Russia.

Turkey’s name has also been included in the list of countries with nuclear capability after receiving the status of a regular ‘nuclear power plant’ after the delivery of nuclear fuel to the ‘Acuo Power Plant’ built with the cooperation of Russia.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke via video link with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday at the virtual inauguration ceremony of the country’s first nuclear power plant after two days of absence due to illness.

He also looked rather frail while talking to the Russian President on video link.

On the occasion of the inauguration of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant, he said, “Our country has joined the ranks of countries with nuclear power after a delay of 60 years.”

On this occasion, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the Turkish President’s leadership and said that Moscow is always ready to extend a hand of friendship to Turkey.

“I want to say very clearly that you know how to set great goals and are moving towards their implementation with full confidence,” he added.

He suspended his campaign for the crucial May 14 election in Turkey after falling ill during a TV interview on Tuesday evening.

In this regard, the Turkish Health Minister said in his statement that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s health is better now and he will resume his normal activities soon.
