The world’s oldest newspaper has announced to stop publication. Austrian newspapers according to Arab media Wiener Zeitung had started publication in 1703 under government patronage.
The newspaper, which has been published for three centuries, announced the official closure of the institution in Thursday’s edition.
According to Arab media, the year of publication 1703 and the year of completion 2023 are printed on the cover of the edition. The decision to close the newspaper has been made in connection with the introduction of a bill to close state-owned newspapers in the Austrian Parliament.
According to Arab media, in the bill, it is recommended to digitize government newspapers and turn them into training centers for new journalists.
