Peshawar: The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suggested consultation before the date of general elections in the province and said that the law and order situation should be taken into consideration before holding the general elections.
In the letter written to the Chief Election Commission, Governor KP has said that the opinion of the law enforcement agencies should be taken before holding the elections while the law enforcement agencies as well as the political parties should also be taken into confidence.
The letter said that before giving a date for conducting clean and transparent elections, all parties should be taken into confidence, the date of the election should be announced after consultation with political parties and security agencies.
Governor KP said that there is an alarming situation in the province after the recent incidents of terrorism, so the Election Commission should consult with the law enforcement agencies.
On the other hand, the spokesperson of the Election Commission says that the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has not yet given the election date and the Governor has not informed the Election Commission about the date of the general elections.
