Confirmation of more than 6 lakh deaths from malaria in the year 2021

Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that in the year 2021, malaria registered 619,000 deaths worldwide, with a total of 247 million people affected.

According to the WHO, despite all the efforts, so many deaths are alarming, with Africa being the most affected, with millions of people affected. On the other hand, most cases of malaria are caused by the bites of female Anopheles mosquitoes.

The symptoms of cases caused by Anopheles mosquito are mild at first and within 24 hours the disease becomes severe, leading to death. WHO has further stated that 24.5 million cases of malaria were noted in 2020. But it is a good thing that in the same year there were 619 thousand deaths from malaria.

It has also been said that 1.3 million cases of malaria were registered worldwide during the Covid-19 pandemic. 95% of these cases have occurred in Africa and sub-Saharan African regions.

On the other hand, 80 percent of the dead are children under the age of five.
