Arizona: Scientists have created the most durable drone that does not break even when it hits walls and maintains its flight.
It is generally impossible to fly quadcopter (four-bladed) drones indoors because of the risk of collision, even with all skill.
Now Arizona State University scientists have created Sober (Soft Body Aerial Robot). It withstands collisions with trees and walls, etc., as it has an external structure that contracts and expands. It is made of soft material.
Other than that, the internal circuitry and electronics remain the same, but the outer casing consists of a polyurethane-coated nylon fabric frame. It is slightly hollowed out from the inside which is able to withstand shocks.
It also has springs on its lower side which are lined with nylon. In addition, this drone can stick to a tree or a pole and make a video while staying there. The interesting thing about Sober is that its frame weighs only 10 grams, otherwise a conventional frame can weigh up to 150 grams.
It can be used in search and rescue in accidents and earthquakes. It can also be flown successfully on very narrow runways.
