On the recommendation of the Sugar Advisory Board, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture fixed the price of sugar.
The retail price of sugar across the country has been fixed at 98 rupees 82 paisa, which notification has been issued.
According to the notification issued, the price of sugar will include sales tax of Rs 14 58 paise.
The per kg price of sugar will include Rs 5 30 paisa sugar mills profit/expenses and 25 paisa distributors margin.
According to the notification, transport cost of Rs 2 per kg, retailer’s profit of Rs 1 kg will also be included in the total cost.
Due to non-fixation of sugar price, sugar became expensive in the market by 30%.
According to the sources of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the district administration will be obliged to sell sugar at official rates.
On the other hand, citizens say that sugar is being sold at Rs 125 per kg even in big stores, while the price of sugar in the open market is Rs 130 per kg.
