Karachi: Six people were injured in an explosion in a bakery item manufacturing company near Bilal Chowrangi area of Korangi Industrial Area, while other parts including the office and kitchen of the company were severely damaged in the blast.
SHO Korangi Industrial Area Inspector Aurangzeb Khattak said that initially it was reported that the explosion was caused by a cylinder burst, but the investigation revealed that there was some reason behind the explosion in the company’s office, which had a roof made of forsling. The gas pressure was created which caused the explosion and during this time 6 people were injured due to the breaking of glass and other objects along with the flame.
In response to a question, he said that there was no fire in the company, while in the initial investigation, it is suspected that the pressure was created due to the gas coming out of the compressor of the air conditioner, however, the incident is being further investigated.
Aurangzeb Khattak further said that 6 people, including the security guard, have been injured in the incident, who have been shifted to Civil Hospital Burns Ward by Chhepa volunteers.
Rescue officials say that the injured in the blast were identified as 25-year-old Mushtaq, 30-year-old Naeem, 20-year-old Mata, 30-year-old Bashir and 35-year-old Qasim, while one injured could not be immediately identified.
Zafar Khan, in-charge of Korangi Fire Station, said that after receiving the information about the explosion, the fire brigade personnel reached the spot along with a vehicle, but there was no fire as a result of the explosion.
