A new emergency alert service will be trialled in the UK today.
According to the report of the British media, the alarm will ring on the mobile phones today at 3 pm according to the British time.
The British government says about this new emergency alert service that this new system is an important means of keeping the public safe in life-threatening emergencies.
The message that British citizens will receive on mobile phones today for this test alert will read: ‘This is a test of the Emergency Alerts Service, a new government service in the country that will alert you when someone is at risk of death. “Emergencies are around you.”
All citizens can use their phone normally after receiving this message by swiping it or clicking on the ‘OK’ option below the message.
According to the report, older ‘non-smartphone’ phones will be unable to receive the above emergency alerts and these alerts will not be received even on devices that are switched off or on flight mode.
The report claims that the test alert is expected to be received on around 90% of mobile phones in the UK today.
