Ahmedabad: An Indian court acquitted 69 Hindus who killed 11 Muslims in 2002.
According to international media reports, 69 Hindus who killed 11 Muslims during communal riots in the western state of Gujarat in 2002 were acquitted.
The defense lawyer of Hindus, Chetan Shah, said that we have been saying since the first day that BJP workers have been trapped.
In Ahmedabad’s Narodagam district, 86 Hindus were accused of murder, but 17 of these accused died during the trial, while the remaining surviving accused were released on bail.
Advocate Chetan Shah, who represented the accused, said that some of the accused were not present at the scene on the day of the incident.
On the other hand, Shamshad Pathan, representing the Muslim victims, said that he will challenge the court’s decision in the Supreme Court. He said that the victims have not got justice once again. The accused have been accused, we will do it.
Among those acquitted is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s former BJP minister Maya Kodnani, who was a lawmaker at the time of the riots. Apart from this, former Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi and leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) were included.
