Non-payment of dues, ban on treatment of new patients on health card

Peshawar: A ban has been imposed on the treatment of new patients under the Health Card Plus program in hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for non-payment of State Life Insurance.

The State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan in its statement has directed the hospitals included in the Health Card Plus Program panel to stop accepting new patients under the Health Card Plus Program.

After the announcement of State Life Insurance, health desks of Sahat Card Plus program in hospitals across the province will now remain closed.

In response to State Life Insurance’s move to temporarily stop new admissions under the Health Card Plus program, Caretaker Health Advisor Dr. Abid Jameel says that State Life has to pay 14.8 billion rupees and the government currently has so much. There is no money.

He said that four billion rupees have to be given monthly, they are trying to solve the problem of funds.

Criticizing the previous government, the caretaker health adviser said that this is the result of launching programs without planning.

Meanwhile, the former provincial minister of finance and health of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Taimur Jhagra has responded and said that the health card program has legal protection, the caretaker government should release the 4 billion rupees agreed with State Life in February and March.

Timur Jhagra said that the people suffering from inflation should not be deprived of free treatment.

Apart from this, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ghani has condemned the ban on treatment of new patients through health card and said that treatment facility was available to millions of people through health card.

He said that the caretaker government has stopped payment of installments to the State Life Insurance Company which is a cruel step, due to which the State Life Insurance has stopped operations in the hospitals of the provinces.
