Peshawar: The constitutional period of the by-election before the general elections in the country has ended, now there will be no election on the vacant seat of any national or provincial assembly.
There will be no by-election on the NA-51 seat which fell vacant due to the death of Federal Minister Mufti Abdul Shakoor.
Under Clause 4 of Article 224 of the Constitution, if a seat is vacant for any reason 120 days before the end of the term of the National and Provincial Assemblies, there will be no by-election. There will be no by-elections on the seat.
Mufti Abdul Shakoor, who belonged to JUI, had succeeded from NA-51 and was a federal minister. On April 15, Mufti Abdul Shakoor died in a traffic accident, by-elections will not be held on the vacant seat of NA-51.
It should be noted that the term of the current National Assembly will end on August 12 at 12 pm.
