Khartoum: The Sudanese paramilitary group RSF claimed to have captured the presidential palace as tensions between the army and forces turned violent.
According to Western media, heavy firing and explosions have been heard near the presidential palace and army headquarters in the capital Khartoum.
The RSF claimed in a statement that they had also taken control of Khartoum, Marwa and Al-Ubeid airports while fighting inside and outside Khartoum airport had stopped.
According to the paramilitary forces, they are retaliating because of the Sudan Army as the army has attacked their base.
On the other hand, Sudan Army has said in its statement that they are fighting against RSF in Khartoum and this group is carrying out terrorist activities against the country.
The army has been in control of Sudan since a coup in 2021 that ousted longtime president Omar al-Bashir.
