Minnesota: In Minneapolis, one of the largest cities in the United States, Muslims were allowed to give the call to prayer at all five times of prayer.
According to international media reports, the council of the city of Minneapolis in the American state of Minnesota has allowed the call to prayer in mosques for all five times, after which Minnesota has become the first big city in the United States to allow the call to prayer at all five times.
The council unanimously passed a resolution making changes to the city’s noise ordinance. Earlier, under the Noise Ordinance, morning and evening calls to prayer were banned at certain times of the year.
“This is a historic victory for religious freedom and pluralism for our entire nation,” Jilani Hussain, director of the Minnesota branch of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), said in a statement. We thank the Minneapolis City Council for setting this great example, and we urge other cities to follow suit.
