After a video circulating on social media, the Ukrainian authorities have condemned the action of the Russian forces In which a Ukrainian prisoner is shown beheading with a knife.
It is too early to say anything about the authenticity of this video.
The footage shows a man in uniform beheading a man wearing a yellow armband used by Ukrainian soldiers.
The video is heavily blurred and has a voiceover at the beginning, suggesting that the victim was alive at the time of the attack.
The Kremlin called the video “appalling” and said its authenticity needed to be checked. Moscow has in the past denied that its troops committed atrocities during the conflict.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that one thing that no one in the world can ignore is how easily these beasts kill.
He said that we are not going to forget anything, nor are we going to forgive the killers, everything will be legally responsible, we will definitely defeat terrorism. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kolyba called the video “horrifying” and said Russia was worse than ISIS.
