Peshawar: IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued orders to investigate the suicide blast in the mosque of Police Lines as soon as possible.
The IGKP visited the site this morning to discuss the blast investigation. He asked the officers how the suicide bomber got inside.
The provincial police chief has also called for a report on the security lapse.
It should be noted that 88 people, including the imam of the mosque and officials, were martyred and 52 injured in a suicide blast inside the police lines mosque yesterday.
The blast happened at the time of Zuhr prayer where the attacker was in the first row. Heavy explosives were used in the attack, due to the severity of the attack, both the roof of the mosque and the adjacent canteen collapsed.
According to reports, the attacker entered the mosque along with the worshipers through the main gate of the police station, crossed three to four checking points and blew himself up.
