France: The World Health Organization has warned for the second time that due to climate change, mosquito-borne diseases can spread far and wide.
WHO has said that on the one hand, mosquitoes can spread far and wide, with which diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya can cover the whole world. Along with this, the Zika virus has also been warned.
It should be noted that this is like an alarm for Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika virus and all three diseases are spread by Aedes aegypti mosquito. Increasing the temperature of the planet Earth can increase the severity and spread of these diseases.
World Health Organization officials said in an announcement on Wednesday that more than 100 countries have the three diseases, while 12 more countries are at risk where rates of the diseases were very low. The statement also said that in the year 2000, five lakh patients were seen, while in 2019, the global number of chikungunya and dengue patients had reached 52 lakh. However, their number is increasing rapidly.
France and disease
Cases of chikungunya and dengue are on the rise in France, while evidence of the Zika virus has also emerged.
In this context, entomologist Dr. Didier Fontenille said that tiger and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes have started to gain a foothold in central France. However, the data presented by them is very alarming.
France saw 65 cases of dengue in the summer of 2022, with people contracting it locally rather than from abroad. On the other hand, the cases of dengue and chikungunya have also increased 10 times in France.
The World Health Organization has urged the governments that now developed countries also play their important role in its remedy.
