Pisa, Italy: A man has been mauled to death by a rabid bear while jogging at a tourist spot in Italy.
It is a hilly tourist destination in northeastern Italy with thick trees. Here, 26-year-old Andre Papi came for jogging on the jogging track but did not reach his home. Concerned by the family, when the police started searching the area, they found Andre’s mutilated body.
Andre had deep lacerations on his arms, neck and chest and it was confirmed that he had died in an attack by Bhalu.
A month ago in March, another person was killed in a bear attack in the same area, after which the debate on animal and human attacks has started again. Bears were introduced here between 1996 and 2004.
Then in 2014, a brown bear also mauled an old man who had come here to collect mushrooms. On the other hand, the Italian administration has announced that the attacking bears will now be shot, but this decision has been objected to by animal rights organizations.
They say that bears usually do not come close to humans and keep a distance, but the district administration has to take extra security measures to keep people away from the den of these animals.
