Karachi: The Vice Chancellor sent the summary to the Chief Minister to decide the future of the contract employees of Dawood Engineering University.
The new vice-chancellor of Dawood Engineering University, Professor Dr. Samreen Hussain, has started the process of laying off daily wages and contract employees based on the financial deficit, the teaching of the university has been made online in Ramadan and a large number of employees are “work from home”. “Home” is doing.
On the other hand, the Vice-Chancellor through a summary has sought the advice of the Chief Minister of Sindh on whether to bring the contract employees back to their jobs or not.
If the Chief Minister of Sindh agrees to the advice not to bring these employees back to their jobs, he will have to deviate from the slogan of People’s Party’s basic manifesto of bread, cloth and house and face criticism from the party circles.
However, if they do not agree with the summary, the university administration has written in its note that the monthly effect of the salaries of these contract employees is a total of 3.688 million rupees per month, in such a case even if the chief minister rejects the summary. They will face difficulties. It should be noted that the university administration has sent this summary to the Chief Minister House and it is about a month now.
It is noteworthy that the vice-chancellor of the university, Dr. Samreen Hussain, apparently wants to save more than 3.6 million rupees by dismissing these employees, but on the other hand, she reduced her salary by 1.2 million rupees under the “Pay Protection” law. Rs. per month claim, its approval has to be given by Chief Minister of Sindh.

In this regard, when “Express” asked the vice chancellor of the university Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain about her salary, she said that pay protection is her right and she will not give up on it. He also disclosed that apart from him, Dr. Fateh Murri in Sindh is also getting extraordinary salary under Pay Protection, so why should he not take it? 21 lakh rupees have been saved.
On the other hand, the dismissed employees of Dawood Engineering University have started protesting against the Vice-Chancellor inside and outside the university.
According to the summary sent to the Sindh Chief Minister, 67 non-teaching, 6 teachers and 15 researchers were among the dismissed non-permanent employees, most of whom were working on non-section posts and despite the selection board many times, these employees were not selected by the selection board. I did not participate.
These employees are re-contracted every time the contract is completed, but now the Sindh government has banned recruitment and made it subject to the approval of the Chief Minister. In such a case, why should the administration give them a new contract?

On the other hand, the protesting employees say that when their recruitments were made, there was no restriction on taking the permission of the Sindh government and the former vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Faizullah Abbasi made these recruitments while allocating the regular budget. There are no burdens on the treasury.
The employees say that in this era of worst inflation, the new administration of the university has closed the doors of employment on them and there is a turn of hunger in our homes.
It should be noted that the current new administration in Dawood Engineering University claims that the university is currently suffering from the worst financial loss, salaries are being paid by taking loans, and there is no money in the pension fund. The budget deficit for this last quarter of the current financial year is more than Rs 259 million, in this quarter Rs 269.87 million has come from grants and fees while expenditure is Rs 528.93 million.

The house ceiling has been revised in the university, now the grade 22 officer is getting 82 thousand rupees as house ceiling in addition to the salary, the amount of 7 million of Ehsaas program was not given to the students but it was also spent. If this dire budget situation and irregularities are not addressed, the university will become bankrupt.
On the other hand, Sindh government sources say that just as it is not so easy for the Chief Minister of Sindh to approve or reject the summary sent regarding the contract employees, similarly the request of the Vice Chancellor regarding pay protection is also currently not easy. Or the immediate approval has gone sour because in case of approval of summary of contract employees, Chief Minister of Sindh may find it difficult to approve the summary of pay protection.
