Karachi: Pakistan Customs has foiled an attempt to smuggle a huge amount of prohibited goods during an operation at Karachi Airport Jinnah International Terminal Arrival.

Customs officials said the recovered items included military-grade weapon parts and other accessories recovered from the luggage of a passenger traveling from Chicago to Istanbul. Spare parts made of springs, metal and plastic are included.

The customs authorities have registered a case and arrested the accused and have started the investigation of the matter, besides, during operations in other cities of the country including Karachi, a huge quantity of drugs was seized.

According to the spokesperson of ANF, 40 grams of hashish was recovered from a parcel sent to Dubai by conducting operations at a private courier office located near Korangi.

53 capsules filled with heroin and 36 capsules filled with hashish were recovered from the stomach of the accused who was going to Qatar from Islamabad, in which the accused was arrested, during the joint operation of ANF and ASF at Faisalabad Airport, from the bag of the accused who was going to Bahrain. One kilogram of 850 grams of ice was recovered and the accused was arrested.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Coast Guards seized drugs and contraband worth crores of rupees during March.

According to the spokesperson of the Coast Guards, actions were taken against smuggling in different areas during the last one month. During the search of the coach coming from Quetta to Karachi at the Naka Khari check post located near Windar, 90 kg of high quality hashish was recovered from the female passenger while at the same place. During another operation, 20 kg of hashish was seized from a woman.

During the search of the passenger coach coming from Quetta to Karachi, 12 kg of hashish was seized and arrested. In other words, during the search of the vehicles at the Khari check post, 90,600 kg of bark, 33,569 kg of foreign cloth, 2,346 kg of illegally smuggled goods were found. A stack of foreign cigarettes, 1,126 different types of tires and 13,529 kg of Indian gut were seized.
