Karachi: A woman and a man died after falling into an open manhole in Orangi Town.
According to Express News, in the manhole near Sector 14C Bhashani Bakery in Orangi Town, a woman passerby fell into the open manhole, seeing which one of the 2 people passing by got down into the manhole to save the woman.
People present at the spot immediately informed the police and Edhi volunteers about the incident. According to SHO Pakistan Bazar Sohail Khaskheli, the woman and the person who went to her rescue suffocated due to water and poisonous gas in the manhole. Edhi’s volunteers took out their dead bodies after a hard struggle and brought them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
According to the police, the woman was identified as 48-year-old Razia Begum, a resident of the same area, while the deceased person could not be immediately identified and the police are conducting further investigations.
