All officials involved in the raid have been suspended, a case of murder has been registered
Rawalpindi: A young man died as a result of firing during a raid on a gambling den by security force personnel in Zia Colony area of Purodhai police station.
Relatives and residents of the area protested strongly by placing the body on Purodhai Road in front of the police station.
CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani suspended all the officials involved and issued orders for inquiry.
Officials of the security forces engaged in patrolling allegedly raided the gambling base. Meanwhile, there was resistance and a young man named Basit died after being seriously injured in the firing.
The family brought the dead body to the road and staged a strong protest and set the tires on fire and stopped the traffic.
CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani issued a strict notice and ordered SP Rawal to immediately reach Purodhai police station and submit a factual report.
On the initial report, all the officials involved in the raid were immediately suspended and a case was registered.
On the other hand, SSP Operations Captain (Rtd) Aamir Khan Niazi, SP Rawal Faisal Saleem reached the spot and started talks with the relatives and assured them of legal action against the involved officials. On the assurance of justice and merit, the relatives ended the protest.
A case of murder was registered against four police officers on the complaint of the deceased Basit’s maternal uncle. Including Constable Shamrez, Constable Salahuddin, Constable Arshad and Saif.
In the case, it was said that Constable Shamrez stopped my nephew Basit and opened fire on a slight bitter remark. From which Basit died.
