The first Saudi woman and man will leave for a space mission next month

Riyadh: For the first time in the history of Saudi Arabia, female and male astronauts will depart on a space mission on May 9.

According to Arab media, Ali Al-Qarni and Rayana Barnawi are the first Saudi astronauts to go to the International Space Station. Both astronauts have 11 major scientific investigations to their credit. These investigations include research experiments in microgravity, human research, cell sciences, and artificial precipitation in microgravity.

According to the Saudi Space Authority, Ali and Rayana have completed a special training program to conduct scientific experiments during their journey to the International Space Station. Both astronauts will leave for the space station on May 9.
