Wanting to be an "Idol" like former opener Saeed Anwar, Saeem Ayub

Young batsman Saeem Ayub, who made his T20 debut against Afghanistan, says that he is inspired by former opener Saeed Anwar’s batting and wants to be an idol like the legendary batsman.

Speaking to the media after a practice session before the start of the home series against New Zealand, young batsman Saeem Ayub said that he learned a lot while playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) alongside captain Babar Azam. Enjoyed playing with them.

Saim Ayub said that Babar Azam gave me confidence while opening during the PSL matches, I will try to perform in my second international series as well.

When asked about Saeed Anwar, the young cricketer said that he was inspired by the batting of the former opener and wanted to become an idol like the legendary batsman.

In the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Saeem Ayub scored 341 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 165.53, including 5 half-centuries.

The left-handed batsman failed to perform well in the series against Afghanistan, scoring just 66 runs in three matches while his top score was 49 runs.
