Karachi: Siegfried Ekman, the foreign coach of the Pakistani hockey team, has indicated to approach the International Hockey Federation against non-payment of one year’s salary.
The coach from Holland says that now that the matter has become unbearable, I have decided to approach the World Hockey Organization to get my due salary for one year.
When contacted, Siegfried Ekman, who is in Amsterdam, said that on March 13, I requested the President and Secretary General of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, the Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board, the Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination and the Prime Minister’s Office to give me one year. The withheld salary should be released so that Pakistan can prepare properly for the Junior Asia Cup and Asian Games.
“Unfortunately, despite reminders, I have not received any response to my messages,” said Siegfried Ekman, “now again informing the authorities in Pakistan that I will now have to contact the FIH Disciplinary Committee about the matter.”
The hockey coach said that I am preparing to approach the International Hockey Federation for my right.
It should be noted that Siegfried Ekman, a Dutch citizen who is mainly from India, has been the head coach of the Japanese hockey team before Pakistan.
According to sources, Aikman, who is serving on a monthly salary of 8,000 euros, has not been paid by the Pakistan Sports Board for the past 12 months.
