Beijing: Iran and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement to restore diplomatic relations after a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang.
In a joint statement released after talks between Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullah and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, both sides expressed their determination to continue working together to improve relations.
The statement said the two sides stressed the importance of the implementation and functioning of the agreement, which would help expand areas of mutual trust and cooperation and create security, stability and prosperity in the region.

Tehran and Riyadh announced a deal brokered by Beijing in March to restore ties that were severed seven years ago when protesters in Iran attacked the Saudi diplomatic mission.
Iran’s foreign ministry said in a statement that the parties “held talks and discussed various issues, emphasizing administrative steps towards the formal restoration of bilateral relations and the reopening of embassies and consulates of both countries.”
