Karachi: The Medical Board of the Health Department attributed the death of 18 people, including children and women, to poisonous gas in Kemari.
The medical board has prepared its investigation report regarding the mysterious deaths of 18 people in Kemari, the medical board has attributed the deaths to poisonous gas emitted from illegal factories.
According to the details, 18 people died in Ali Muhammad Goth in Kemari area of Karachi in the month of January. Most of the dead were children aged 2 to 4 years. The health department initially suspected measles as the cause, but a four-member medical board comprising forensic, police surgeon Karachi, pathology and infectious disease experts was formed for further investigation.
The results of the deaths were determined with the help of post-mortem, chemical examination and virology. According to the report, the lungs were affected due to the poisonous gas, severe allergies and the reproductive system were affected, the symptoms of which are similar to measles, but due to the closure of the factories, the series of deaths stopped.
On the other hand, the Environment Department had also presented a report on the absence of pollution and toxic gas in the environment.
