A special tribute has also been paid to Queen Elizabeth II on the coronation invitation.
Buckingham Palace yesterday released colorful invitations to King Charles’s coronation ceremony, which has been sent to 2,000 guests for his coronation at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023.
This invitation with an intricate floral border was designed by Andrew Jamieson, a heraldic artist and manuscript illuminator.
A hand-painted watercolor and gouache illustration printed on this recycled card reflects the king’s lifelong interest in sustainability.
The intricate design of this invitation is not just a decoration, but actually reveals a lot about the new British monarch and his wife.
Jessa’s invitation features two birds perched on the English letter ‘C’ while Charles and Camilla’s court of arms are printed on the sides.
The intricate floral border on the invitation depicts lilies of the valley, cornflowers, wild strawberries, dog roses and bluebells, plus a British wildflower meadow.
In addition, a green human figure seen among the flowers on the invitation is an ancient figure from British folklore, symbolizing spring and rebuilding after falling apart.
On the invitation, the flowers are divided into bunches of three to indicate that it is the coronation of King Charles III.
This invitation is also reminiscent of the invitation issued for Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953.
