Seven people were killed in an avalanche in the Indian Himalayan state of Sikkim.

According to Indian officials, several tourist vehicles were hit by an avalanche in the Nathulapas between Sikkim and China’s Tibet region.

Twenty tourists have been rescued, eight of them are in critical condition.

Indian officials say that it is unusual to see snowfall in this area in the month of April.
