A school teacher in the US state of Virginia has filed a $40 million claim against the school for the shooting of a 6-year-old child.
According to the report of the Washington Post, the female teacher says that the school administration ignored several warnings and failed to prevent the accident.
Abigail Zorner alleges in the lawsuit that other teachers and school employees notified Assistant Principal Ebony Parker that the student had a pistol.
The 25-year-old female teacher said she had also told the assistant principal that the child was angry and had threatened to kill other children.
Abigail said that the accused student of the first class had once tried to strangle a teacher.
Two days before the shooting, the student broke Abigail’s phone and used inappropriate language toward her, the lawsuit said.
The school teacher has also named Principal Brianna Foster and former Superintendent George Parker in the lawsuit.
Principal Brianna Foster’s attorney says the principal is considering a damages claim against the teacher.
On the day of the shooting, a student told Abigail that the 6-year-old had a pistol, but Abigail told the informant to keep quiet, he said.
