Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been granted bail today in the 2019 defamation case.
He was sentenced to 2 years in prison, the execution of which has been postponed pending the decision of the appeal filed by Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi’s appeal will be heard in the Gujarat court on April 13.
Rahul Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi and several other Congress leaders, including three vizayas, had reached the Sessions Court in Surat to file an appeal against his sentence.
It should be noted that if Rahul Gandhi’s sentence is not lifted, he will remain ineligible for membership in Parliament and will not be able to participate in elections for the next 8 years.
He has also started shifting the goods from his official house.
It should be noted that the 52-year-old former Congress president was sentenced to two years in prison by the court last year in a case of 2019.
But they were given 30 days to appeal.
