Islamabad: The former President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, has said that the Chinese debt trap is not a trap.

Former World Bank President Jim Yong Kim has said that Western accusations about the Belt and Road Initiative are meaningless and nothing more than a reminder that the Chinese debt trap is meant to ensnare nations.

He called on Asian Americans to stand up against blind hatred during the 2023 Boao Forum for Asia. He cited an American political scientist who stated that there was no evidence for these allegations, in fact, the term was coined due to human negative bias based on anxiety about Chinese rise.

Our message to the Chinese people is please do not lose your commitment to helping other countries develop their economies and reduce poverty as you have done for the past 30 years.
