London: We know that hepatitis C is also a life-threatening disease that takes the patient with it when it worsens. Now, for the first time, around 200 children have been cured of hepatitis C with a new treatment method.
It should be noted that a campaign to eliminate the hepatitis virus by 2025 is underway in the UK, in which new drugs are also being used, and a billion British pounds has been set aside for this entire project.
In this regard, a whole group of 200 children including children up to three years of age have been treated. All the children have been put on the new medication and a special type of therapy that includes antiviral pills for 8 to 12 weeks. All the children have been followed up for several months after the end of the disease and there is no suspicion of hepatitis C virus in them.
NHS experts in the UK insist that treating the disease once it is identified in children can not only stop it early, but also prevent further complications. This therapy has become possible after two decades of research but is still too expensive to be implemented worldwide.
Most of the children had contracted the virus from their mothers or had been transferred from abroad. However, now there is hope that these children will be able to live a healthy and happy life.
