Dubai: A series of lullabies has been started from radio stations to lull children who are afraid of the war-torn environment in Syria to sleep.
The civil war that has been going on for more than a decade in Syria has had a profound impact on the psychology of children and they are suffering from various mental and psychological disorders, including insomnia.
This lullaby written in Arabic language is the creation of the famous Syrian singer Ghalia Shakir and she has recorded it in her own voice. However, this is not an ordinary lullaby or an ordinary children’s song, but its creation has been helped by the research of American neuroscientists and music therapy.
This scientifically based lullaby increases the activity of the part of the brain that induces sleep in humans.
Twenty-four-year-old Ghalia Shakir is also a lyricist, but never thought of writing and singing lullabies before. She says that I never thought of writing lullabies but when I came to know that the human mind can be soothed through music therapy, I thought why not try to reduce the suffering of fearful children.
So Ghalia approached the therapy app ‘Spirit Tune’ for this purpose. This app focuses on music therapy through scientific methods. The organizers of the said app guided Ghalia in composing the lyrics of the lullaby with the help of neuroscientist Daniel Bowling.
Ghalia says, “We wanted the lullaby to be neither too emotive nor too euphoric, but we wanted the lyrics and melody to calm the children down.” Keep happening.
The Syrian singer says that she hopes that her lullaby will help the Syrian children suffering from the severe effects of the war to sleep peacefully.
These days, the lullaby sung by Ghalia Shakir is being broadcast every evening from different radio stations across the country.
