Rizwan Siddiqui, the lawyer of Alia Siddiqui, the wife of Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is embroiled in controversy, has given an indication of his consent to the settlement agreement.
According to Indian media reports, Alia Siddiqui’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui has confirmed that he received the draft settlement agreement based on his terms from Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lawyer on March 25.
They say that it is a positive step that they are trying to settle the matter amicably.
Talking to the media, he said that the claim for damages of Rs 100 crore against his client was made before the settlement agreement was sent, thus it was automatically included in the terms of the settlement.
According to lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui, if his client agrees to a settlement agreement, the defamation case will automatically end.
However, he has sought a clear guarantee from Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lawyer that even if the settlement agreement is reached, the claim for damages will also be over.
Regarding the terms of the draft agreement, he further said that there is no provision regarding the custody of the children.
Lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui has confirmed that his client Alia Siddiqui will divorce Nawazuddin Siddiqui and revert to her original name, Anjana Kishore Pandey, once the deal is settled.
“We want to keep the terms of the settlement private,” he said. There is no mention of custody of the children, however the children will remain with my client as they have been with her since birth. There should not be any new controversy in this regard.
However, he has also stated that his client Alia Siddiqui will complete all legal proceedings by filing a formal case regarding the custody of the children after getting divorced from Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
