The European Union has expressed satisfaction over Pakistan’s removal from the EU list, following the FATF decision.
This expression of satisfaction has been expressed in a message issued by the Pakistan Office of the European Union on its social media account Twitter.
In this message, the European Union Pakistan Office working under the leadership of Dr. Reena Kavinka made a symbol of clapping with the Pakistani flag to express their happiness and satisfaction and said that “an important positive step for Pakistan last year.” According to the FATF decision, the EU has decided to remove Pakistan from the list of high-risk countries for money laundering and terrorist financing.
The European Office also tagged Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar for this message.
Earlier, the European Union institution European Finance also said in its released message that the European Commission would welcome the finalization of the updated list of high-risk third country jurisdictions after no objection from the European Parliament and the Council. “This latest list strengthens the international fight against financial crime.”
It should be noted that FATF had removed Pakistan from the gray list last year, but Europe has its own internal procedure under which any initiative is also placed before the European Council and the European Parliament for approval if their If no objection is raised, then the work is completed.
