National Assembly; Government's acknowledgment of end of electricity subsidy for export sector

Islamabad: The federal government admitted in the National Assembly to end the electricity subsidy for the export sector.

Parliamentary Secretary Rana Aradat Sharif, while giving a statement on the question of Muslim League-N member Sheikh Fayyazuddin, has said that on the instructions of the IMF, the electricity provided to the export sector at a discounted price will now be available at the rate of other sectors.

Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, a member of Jamaat-e-Islami, criticized the government’s response regarding ending the electricity subsidy of the export sector. He said that we have fallen to the last limit of the slavery of the IMF. Do we now have to ask the IMF to enter our house and come to the assembly?

Member of Assembly Wajiha Qamar demanded that the free electricity units received by the officers from grades 16 to 22, including the Ministry of Energy, should be stopped immediately and the money from the free units should be given to the export sector to increase the country’s income.
