London: Pictures of the newly elected head of the Scottish government, Hamza Yusuf, offering prayers at the official residence of Pakistani origin have gone viral.
According to the foreign news agency ‘AFP’, on March 27, the Parliament of Scotland named Hamza Yusuf as the first minister to replace Nicola Sturgeon, who is the country’s youngest and the first Muslim leader of a government in Western Europe.
He took the oath of office on March 28 after formal approval from the King. It should be noted that Hamza Yusuf is a member of the Scottish Parliament from Polk in Glasgow and now he will be the new First Minister of Scotland, i.e. the head of the Scottish government. It was reported that 37-year-old Hamza Yusuf has become the first Muslim and Pakistani-origin leader of a British political party after assuming the new position.
He has previously served as the Minister of Health. He became a member of the Scottish Parliament at the age of just 26 years and holds the distinction of being the youngest member of the Parliament.
Hamza Yusuf of Pakistani origin has also served as Minister of Justice and Transport in the Scottish Cabinet.
