Peshawar: Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir has expressed fear that a cyber attack has been carried out in the power breakdown across the country on January 23, but investigations are ongoing in this regard.
While holding a press conference with Governor Haji Ghulam Ali at the Governor House Peshawar, the Federal Minister told the journalists that there is a single formula for electricity delivery in the entire country, no province is being given electricity under a separate formula, where electricity theft will be more. Electricity will be provided there according to the same calculation.
He said that after the power breakdown on January 23, the transmission has returned to normal.
Khurram Dastgir said that the federal government is facing a financial crisis, so we cannot make payments to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in terms of the net profit of electricity. As soon as our economic conditions improve, the province will be given its right first.
The federal minister said that the people of Chitral had a long-standing problem of electricity, the elders of Chitral contacted Prime Minister Shahnaz Sharif and informed about their problem, on which Shahbaz Sharif directed me to solve the matter and that is why the meeting was held in Peshawar. He said that Upper Chitral will get electricity equal to Lower Chitral, there is no difference in the regional policy of the provinces regarding electricity, due to the economic crisis it is difficult to pay the net profit of electricity, if the provinces will come out of the financial crisis. They will be given their right, they are making a formula for the areas which do not receive electricity bills or have dues, electricity bills are being paid from industries in ex-tribal areas.
