Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced the date of elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the notification issued by the Election Commission, the general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be held on October 8.
It should be noted that in the light of the order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Election Commission consulted the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding the date and then announced the date after consideration.

Earlier, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had also suggested October 8 as the date for the elections to the Election Commission. After the consultation, he wrote a letter to the Election Commission on March 24, in which he suggested holding elections in the province on October 8.
It should be noted that under the constitution, elections must be held within 90 days of the dissolution of the assembly.
It should also be remembered that the Election Commission had announced the date of April 30 for the elections in Punjab, which has been postponed and given a new date of October 8. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the postponement of the elections, which is being heard by a five-member bench headed by the Chief Justice.
