Karachi: Due to the 10-day-long protest by the employees of the Loco Shed Department of Pakistan Railways over non-payment of salaries, the train schedule was severely affected while thousands of passengers were forced to wait for hours while fasting.

Several passenger trains departing from Karachi inland were delayed for several hours due to the protest and strike of the railway locoshed employees over the non-payment of salaries in Karachi.

Protesting against non-payment of salaries, Loco Shed employees did not prepare engines for several domestic trains, which delayed domestic departures by more than 4 hours.

Locust employees said that the salaries for the month of February have not been paid yet due to which the employees are facing difficulties in Ramadan.

Locust employees said that in the negotiations, the payment of salaries was assured, but the salaries for the month of February were not paid on March 27, forcing them to protest.

An attempt was made to negotiate between the Divisional Mechanical Engineer and Malmin, the DME assured that the salaries would be paid to the employees in a few days, after the assurance, the employees started working on the washing line.

The railway protestors said that if our demands are not approved in a few days, the scope of the protest will be widened.

Passengers should contact the reservation office at Karachi Cantt Station, on the other hand, a large number of passengers suffered problems at Karachi Cantt Railway Station due to the delay of trains.

Tahira, a passenger going to Multan, said that they have been waiting since 12 o’clock. They said that it was 2 o’clock. Now it is 3 o’clock, but the arrival of the train is not expected.

A passenger said that they are being made to wait for hours while fasting. Instead of giving relief to the passengers in Ramadan, the railway administration has also increased the fare from Rs 2900 to Rs 3300 and now the train is also delayed.

Passengers have requested the government to solve the problems of train traffic due to the irregularity of the employees, as a result of which we are worried, so that we can return to our homes in peace.
