Srinagar: It has been 27 years since the martyrdom of Hurriyat leader Jalil Ahmed Andrabi in Occupied Kashmir.
Jalil Ahmed Andrabi, who belonged to the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, was a pioneer of human rights and freedom movement. He was martyred on March 8, 1996 by Major Avtar Singh of 5 Rashtriya Rifles after brutally torturing him while in jail on the pretext of investigation.
The body of Jalil Ahmed Andrabi Shaheed was thrown into the river which was found two weeks later in the river Jhelum near Kurso Rajbagh in Srinagar. The post-mortem report also confirmed the worst torture.
Instead of punishing the murderer of Jalil Andrabi, who was called ‘Shaheed Insaf’ at the international level, the occupying India made him flee to America. The extrajudicial killing of Jalil Ahmed Andrabi and other Kashmiris is a slap on the face of the so-called Indian democracy.
