Islamabad: The committee established by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has prepared recommendations for the appointment of new trade officers abroad.

According to Ministry of Commerce sources, it was recommended to reduce the quota of overseas Pakistanis from 20 to 10 percent and to limit the appointment of officers of other groups except commerce and trade.

The committee recommended allotment of 60% quota for commerce and trade group in grade 18, 50% quota for commerce and trade group in grade 19, 40% quota for commerce and trade group in grade 20.

According to the sources, it has also been recommended to give the responsibility of the syllabus to the Ministry of Commerce for written and other tests. The committee will submit its recommendations to the Prime Minister for approval soon. The process of appointment of new trade officers will begin after the approval of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister has constituted an 8-member committee headed by former Secretary Nasir Khosa.
