Haryana: Indian Punjab Police has arrested a woman for harboring Khalistan Tehreek leader Amrit Pal Singh.
According to Indian media reports, the Punjab Police has arrested a 30-year-old woman from Haryana for harboring Khalistan Movement leader Amrit Pal Singh.
The police crackdown on Amrit Pal Singh, who has been absconding since March 18, began after a police station in Amritsar was attacked on February 23 by Amrit Pal and his accomplices.
According to the Times of India, the accused woman, Baljit Kaur, told investigators that Amrit Pal and a man with him told them about their plans that their next stop would be Uttarakhand, where they were going.
The Indian Express quoted Inspector General (Headquarters) Sukhchan Singh Gill as saying that the woman was in contact with Amrit Pal’s associate Pipal Preet Singh for the past two and a half years. Pipalpreet Singh was last seen traveling in a vehicle with Amritpal Singh in Darapur village of Jalandhar district.
Police released new CCTV footage allegedly showing Amrit Pal Singh and Pipal Preet Singh near Kaur’s house on March 20. The Inspector General said that it is not known what mode of transport Amrit Pal Singh used to reach Haryana. Amrit Pal’s last known location in Punjab was near an amusement park on the Jalandhar-Ludhiana road at 9.40 am on March 18.
