Decision to run People's Electric Bus Service on more new routes

Karachi: Sindh Government has decided to run People’s Electric Bus Service on more new routes in Ramadan.

According to Express News, this decision was taken in an important meeting related to public transport projects under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Information and Transport Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that more new electric buses are being brought under the transport department. The People’s Bus Service, BRT Red Line, Orange Line and Yellow Line projects were also reviewed in detail in the meeting.

The provincial minister said that they are going to start work on the yellow line project soon with the support of the World Bank in the field of public transport. Award should be made by May, delay in this will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He said that the problems of the construction of the bus depot of the Yellow Line project should also be resolved so that their construction can start. The provincial minister called for a report on the progress of work related to the BRT Red Line on a weekly basis.

He said that the citizens are facing severe difficulties, the Sindh government wants to complete the BRT Red Line project as soon as possible, this project is the most important project to improve the public transport infrastructure of Karachi.

He said that 400 million rupees has been paid to the contractors of the BRT Red Line project this week, to ensure work on lot one and lot two of the project in two shifts for 24 hours.

Secretary Transport Abdul Halim Shaikh, MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kamal Hakeem and NRTC Project Director Soheb Shafiq attended the meeting.
