The Election Commission postponed the Punjab Assembly elections on April 30

Islamabad: The Election Commission has postponed the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for April 30.

According to the notification of the Election Commission, the date of October 8 has been fixed for the Punjab Assembly elections. In addition, the notification said that the law and order situation is not favorable for the Punjab Assembly elections.

According to the notification, the government refused to provide military forces for the security of the elections and due to the economic crisis in the country, the finance ministry also showed inability to provide funds.

In the notification issued by the Election Commission, it is further stated that timely and peaceful, fair and transparent elections are not possible in the light of the opinions of the Ministry of Finance, Interior and Defense and law enforcement agencies.

The Election Commission, withdrawing the election schedule issued on March 8, has now set the date for the elections on October 8.
