The case of missing persons is becoming serious, Sindh High Court

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has expressed dissatisfaction over the police report regarding the missing persons and has remarked that the matter is becoming serious.

The petitions related to the recovery of missing persons were heard in front of the 2-member bench of the Sindh High Court headed by Justice Nimatullah Phalputo. The court issued notices to the Chief Secretary Sindh, Home Secretary, IG Sindh and others on the requests related to the recovery of missing persons and ordered the Federal Secretary Home to get the reports from the detention centers of KP and submit them.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the police report, the court summoned the concerned SP investigation in a personal capacity.

It should be noted that a hearing was held on the recovery applications of Kamran alias Kamalu, Syed Naveed Ali, while the recovery applications of Syed Muneeb Ali, Obaid Al Hasan, Tahir Zaman are under hearing.

During the hearing, the family members said that Kashif Ali, Babar, Attaullah, Khalilur Rehman are also missing. The court became angry with the investigating officer for the non-appearance of the petitioner. Justice Nimatullah Phalputo remarked that you people do nothing to recover the missing persons. Due to the attitudes of your people, the families have stopped coming to the court. Even after many years, they could not even get the report from the detention centers. Such drastic action will be taken that you cannot even imagine.

The government lawyer stated during the hearing that there is a problem in getting reports from other provinces.

Justice Nimatullah Phalputo remarked that the issue of missing persons is getting serious. IG Sindh and Home Secretary should make a serious effort themselves. The court issued notices to Chief Secretary Sindh, Home Secretary, Advocate General Sindh and IG. The court sought a comprehensive response from the provincial and federal governments.

The court asked the reports from the police and other agencies in the second week of April and ordered the Federal Home Secretary to get the reports from the detention centers of KP and submit them.
