2022, 152 women and 65 men killed in Sindh on charges of prostitution

Karachi: In Sindh, a record number of cases of rape, northern Sindh has become a slaughterhouse for women, 152 women and 65 men were killed in Sindh in 2022 in the name of honor.

The leaders of Sindh Shai Organization, a social organization working for the prevention of prostitution and women’s rights in Sindh, demanded the creation of a special force to prevent prostitution incidents.

Sindh Shai Organization Chairperson Dr. Ayesha Hasan Dharijo has said in a press conference along with Justice (R) Majda Rizvi, Anees Haroon, Anita Panjwani, Fahmida Riaz and others that women are being killed like sheep in Sindh. In 2022, the incidence of rape has increased to a record, it seems as if there is a genocide of rural women.

Dr. Ayesha Dhariju said that in 2022, 152 women were put to death on charges of rape, while 65 men were also killed. A total of 217 people were killed in the name of so-called honor.

The incidents of rape are highest in Jacobabad district, 20 women and 16 men have been killed in Jacobabad district in 12 months, followed by Kashmore where 21 women and 6 men have been killed, and third place. Ghotki district is where 16 women and 7 men have been deprived of their right to live.

Dr. Ayesha Hasan Dharijo further said that Shikarpur district is on the fourth place, where 13 women and 3 men lost their lives, on the fifth place, 9 women and 5 men were killed in Larkana district.

Chairperson Sindh Shai Organization Dr. Ayesha Hassan Dharijo said that such incidents are happening in rural areas due to lack of education. The record has been broken.

He said that now it is felt as if the genocide of rural women is being done, these are just cases of exploitation, I don’t know how many women have been killed in tribal disputes, what is the Sindh government doing?, rural areas. Vaders have set up their own courts, in some cases of corruption, the accused are not even arrested.
