Islamabad: Speaker KP Assembly Mushtaq Ghani filed a contempt of court petition against Governor Ghulam Ali for not giving the date of elections in KP despite the order of the Supreme Court.
Governor KP Ghulam Ali and Election Commission have been made parties in the petition.
It was submitted that the Supreme Court ordered the Governor KP to give the date of the elections in the province but the Governor KP did not give the date of the elections even in response to several letters of the Election Commission, so the Supreme Court implemented its decision of March 1. and immediately initiate contempt of court proceedings against Governor KP.
Petitioner Mushtaq Ghani has said that despite being the highest constitutional officer, the governor violated the Supreme Court order and the constitution, the governor also has the authority to initiate high treason proceedings against KP while the governor is accused of violating the constitution. Violation should be immediately removed from the post.
It was requested on behalf of Speaker KP that the Supreme Court should order the President to give the date of the elections in case the Governor does not give the date.
A contempt of court petition has been filed against Governor KP through advocate Shamail Butt.
