The European Union foreign ministers have agreed on a two-billion-euro arms purchase plan for Ukraine from their arms reserves.
At the meeting in Brussels, the ministers agreed on a multilateral initiative for this week’s summit, which will be approved at the summit.
Under this project, 1 million shells will be supplied to Ukraine for the next one year.
Ukraine has complained that its military is having to handle ammunition carefully.
Ukraine informed the European Union that it needs 350,000 shells per month.
According to the first part of the project, one billion euros worth of weapons will be bought from the reserves of European countries and given to Ukraine.
In the second part, European defense firms will develop new missiles at a cost of one billion euros.
